The Eileen and Tim Healey Bursary

Statement of intent

The Eileen and Tim Healey Bursary is specifically aimed at individuals who exhibit dyslexic traits and for whom support from the bursary would improve the prospects of further education or employment.

Criteria and scope

The recipient of the bursary could be a child or an adult.

 

Any identified help would improve the prospects of, or support them in their education or work (i.e. to reach their potential, to get a job etc).

Support could include payment of screening fees or tuition for specific problem e.g. help to pass driving theory test.

The recipient should be living in Cheshire, North Wales or Wirral (the area we cover as Cheshire, North Wales & Wirral Dyslexia Association).

An amount up to a maximum amount which has been set initially to £100 but this will be reviewed regularly by the committee to ensure that it is appropriate.

The award of any bursary to be agreed by the committee either at a meeting or by discussion.

With provision for discretionary help in exceptional circumstances to be agreed by the committee.

No applicant will receive less favourable treatment on the grounds of age, disability, gender re-assignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.

The bursary has a set sum allocated for each year to ensure that we are best placed to meet demand.
